About the Project

From toddler to teenager, this young client was gifted a complete bedroom makeover for her 13th birthday! And Wow what a transformation from her baby/toddler room to this beautiful, elegant and classic bedroom.

While this young client is ‘officially’ a teenager she hasn’t quite yet transitioned out of her stuffed animal collection. But that’s okay—one step at a time as she navigates all things teenager.

We designed lots of custom pieces for this room; furniture, cabinetry, rug and along with new lighting and accessories to make it uber-functional for our young client. This room is as beautiful as it is functional, and it will grow with her and still be relevant when she comes home from University as they plan her future. That’s good design!

What They Wanted

  • A new bedroom design for their teenage daughter
  • A place for her to study in quiet
  • Better closet organization
  • New colour palette
  • New furniture and accessories

What We Did

  • Re-designed the space to include everything on the wish list
  • Changed the layout and orientation of furniture
  • Created a desk study space with custom cabinetry for her extensive book collection, and plenty of room for file storage and pencils
  • Designed areas for her to display her favourite stuffed animals
  • Designed a new lighting plan throughout; ceiling fan, wall sconces and undercabinet lighting at desk area
  • Re-designed closet space to maximize organization with dedicated drawers and shelves and hanging rods
  • By re-designing the closet with built-in cabinetry we gained much-needed inches to make everything fit comfortably
  • Designed a custom upholstered platform bed that will take her through to adulthood
  • Designed a custom 100% wood rug in ombré shades of blue and lavender to capitalize on all colours in the bedroom
  • Designed a custom hand-painted wall finish as a feature wall to highlight the new upholstered bed
  • Selected and coordinated a combination original and reproduction art for a new gallery wall
  • Selected and coordinated all furnishings, linens, pillows, accessories
